                                  About Us

Bluffton Wesleyan was founded in 1971 with the original name, "Bluffton
Holiness Mission," under the burden to preach full salvation to the lost in
and around Bluffton, Indiana.

In 1994, the church voted to change the name to "Bluffton Wesleyan
Chapel". Within the next four years, the church went through two pastoral
transitions and in July 1999, elected Rev. Chad Clark from Washington,
Indiana to assume the position of pastor. Since then, the Church has again
been "re-established" within the community and is an alive and thriving
ministry.

There is a spirit of expectancy in every service and we are
looking for God to continue to move in our midst!

If you are looking for a place to hear the Word of God preached,
have questions that you have always been hesitant to ask, and
want to feel and know the presence of God, Bluffton Wesleyan
Chapel is the place for you!

                   Statement/Articles of Faith

There is one God over all, the same yesterday, today and forever, the
Creator of all things, and in whom all things consist.

There is one Savior, Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God,
who is the Supreme head of the Church which He redeemed unto God
by His own blood.

There is one Holy Spirit, the third person in the Trinity, who is now the
representative of the Godhead on earth, who came from the Father and
the Son, to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and the judgment.
God the Father, God the Son, and God the
Holy Spirit are three Persons united and inseparable, of one substance,
and eternal.

We emphatically affirm our unwavering faith in the Holy Scriptures of the
Old and New Testaments. They are divinely and supernaturally inspired,
infallibly true as originally given, and divinely authorized as our  rule of faith
and practice.

True repentance toward God and faith in the shed Blood of our
Lord Jesus Christ bring forgiveness of all our sins and the experience of
the New Birth, whereby we become the children of God.  The
unconditional abandonment of all we are and have to God forever and an
unwavering faith in the promise of the Father brings the Baptism of the
Holy Spirit by whom we are sanctified wholly. This experience cleanses
the heart of the believer from all sin, enables him to love God with all his
heart, soul, mind, and strength; and endows him with power for service.
Regeneration and sanctification are both wrought by God’s free Grace
and are witnessed to by the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the second coming of Christ, the resurrection of the body,
the judgment of all mankind, the everlasting consciousness and punishment
of the wicked, and the eternal life and happiness of the righteous.

We believe in the Biblical concept of the family to include:  Father, Mother,
and Children.  (Joshua 24:15,  Proverbs 22:6,  Eph. 5:25,  Titus 2:3-5).

We are opposed to anything that tends to break down the family unit, such
as the sins of homosexuality, adultery, abortion, euthanasia, polygamy,
abuse, and fornication. We believe the Bible offers forgiveness and Grace
to those involved in these sins, at the time of their true repentance thereof.

We believe that  the six days of creation, as recorded in Genesis 1 and
Exodus 20:11, are to be understood as six literal twenty-four hour days.
Any teaching that would seek to reconcile any form of evolution (including,
but not limited to: “theistic evolution”, “progressive creation”, “the gap
theory”) or otherwise propose on “old-earth” theory, in excess of 7,000
years is expressly denied as unscriptural and forbidden. Death is a result of
man’s sin and could not have happened before the “original sin” of Adam
and Eve in the Garden of Eden after six days of creation, thus
nullifying any form of evolutionary teaching of death before sin.

We Believe that all Christians must prayerfully and humbly pursue a
lifestyle that will most surely and vividly testify to this generation that we are
not of this world; that we are separate from sinners; and that will by His
Grace reflect the true Image of Christ. A holy life will declare to the world
that we abide by the Scriptures, and will give outward evidence of a
transformation by Divine Grace. Though our convictions and opinions may
be many and varied, we will have our lives inwardly and outwardly directed
and governed by His Word.

We believe that the Bible gift of tongues is not some "unknown" jargon or
incomprehensible language, but is, as the original Greek clearly signifies, a
genuine intelligible language. (Greek "glossa", Latin "li agua", Hebrew
"lashion" meaningspeech, language.) (Acts 2:1-13)
